Preparing for Princeton

Many of you know how advanced Willa is... perhaps you didn't realize how advanced. We will be sure to attach this picture to her Princeton application some day! Perhaps she should read some Fitzgerald instead... he did go to Princeton! No pressure Willa you can do whatever you like... a state university, a tech college, art school, the mission field, etc!!

Mom's group

Leah is part of a mom's group that is in turn Willa's play group. We meet each Monday morning and this day it was at our house. It is such a fun time to be with other mom's and so many babies Willa's age. There are 8- 10 of us each week... it can be mayhem!

Willa Chillin'

Willa has never been to Ocean City, however, it was a Macaleer family tradition while Bret was growing up. So, in honor of summer, Willa donned the Ocean City t-shirt her aunt Cori sent her. We also spend hours each day outside playing on our blankets... actually Willa plays... we lay on our blanket and read books like "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" or "The No Cry Sleep Solution". Remember when summer meant reading worthless summer books, trashy novels, or even trashier celeb mags (guilty pleasure)!

With our beautiful Bellingham summer in full swing we are outside as much as possible. We walk, we swing, we stroll. As you can see, Willa's future's so bright she has to wear... well you know... and if you don't you are either way too young or way too old.

Willa and Lyle are B.F.F. They love to hang out or just lay around as in this picture. Please note that Willa's t-shirt does not say "Dr. Pepper" but "Dr. Pooper"... how true!!

Willa at Four Months

Willa hammed it up for the camera the day she turned four months old. Thanks again to our friends Caleb and Alissa for coming over to take these adorable pictures!

Granjan's Birthday

We celebrated Granjan's birthday with lunch by the water and a trip to the strawberry field. We picked 50 lbs. of strawberries! We are up to our ears in strawberry jam, strawberry ice cream, and strawberry shortcake!

Summer is here!

We had an alfresco dinner with our friends the Dentons. We enjoyed an evening of good food, music in the park, and our girls playing together on the picnic blanket (as much as four and seven month olds play, anyway).

Playtime at the beach!

We spent the afternoon with the Goldsberry's at Clayton Beach. We walked, flew kites and chucked it with Lyle!

Snuggle time!

Willa and Mom do a bit of chilling out before bed!

Father's Day

We went on a Father's Day picnic to Lummi Island. It was a beautiful day to celebrates Bret's first father's day. We did kind of celebrate last year since we found out we were having Willa on father's day!

Willa learns to share!

Our good friends Tyler and Elizabeth Denton were over for Leah's birthday party. Their daughter, Riley, is three months older than Willa. They are good friends... they do yoga together (actually Elizabeth and Leah do the yoga at mommy and me yoga) and have a play group together on Mondays (actually Elizabeth and Leah are in a mom's/kids play group together). Anyway... they are learning at a very young age to share...

Willa gives herself a hand...

...literally!

More great grandma pics...

We had a great visit with Willa's great grandma. Now Willa just has to meet her Uncle Jesse and Great Grandpa Hendrickson(gg-pa)!

Great Grandma McGaughy

Leah's Grandma McGaughy is visiting this week. She came to meet her great grand daughter! She and Willa are getting along swimingly! Leah was always grandma's angel... it seems that Willa has stolen the title.

Just Friends...

Willa will not be dating for many, many years... don't think that she and her good friend Sam Goldsberry aren't having fun in the mean time. They have so much in common... naps, pooping, an affinity for anything colorful that rattles....

Memorial Weekend at the Agledal's

We spent Memorial weekend with our good friends Einar and Stephanie Agledal. We had the chance to see their amazing home in the mountains near Naches, WA. We had great food and fellowship. Bret and Einar went for a Sunday jeep ride into the mountains while Leah, Stephanie and Willa went crafting at the Craft Warehouse. Einar and Stephanie are expecting their own little one in August... Willa can't wait to meet baby girl Agledal!!!

Clowning Around

Bret thinks Willa looks way too serious for the "clown outfit" she's wearing. What he does not realize is that this is high fashion for babies! Granjan gets it though!

Bret's inaugural trip in his kayak!

Bret has been building his kayak for the past year and finished it this week! It is a beauty! His friends Matt and Kevin joined him in his first trip paddling in the Bellingham Bay!

Our trip to Victoria

Bret took Jan and Leah on a Mothers day trip to Victoria. We started at Buchart Gardens... beautiful! We spent the rest of our time in Victoria. We went to this Italian restaurant where we went on our first anniversary a couple years ago. Leah was determined to find it again... we couldn't be sure it was as good as we remember... was it good because it was good or was it good because we had a bit of wine. Well we found it and it was just plain old good... and we had a bit of wine... oh well!

Spit Happens!

Willa is quite a good eater and in turn quite a good puker... sometimes we get in the way. This time it was granjan!
