Family Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

W

Willa Swings

Willa is just getting big enough for the swings at the park by our house. It is a fun outing for all... Willa gets to swing and Lyle gets to play with the other dogs... it's a dog park too.

The Adventures of Willa

Now that Willa can crawl she has all sorts of new adventures...
She loves to pull herself up on the ottoman... this was one of her less successful attempts!

I'm not sure what sort of newfangled exercise this is but I am sure Willa is very advanced at it!

This is the ottoman/couch pivot...

Occasionally Lyle gets too excited for his own good so we put up a gate. Now that Willa is crawling she is constantly trying to assist in his escape!

Lyle the jungle gym!

Willa doing laps around the ottoman...

Willa loves to crawl over to her toy basket and pull every toy out.

Worn out from a long morning of crawling and a delicious breakfast of prunes and cereal!

Willa's favorite book is the bible. Here Willa tastes and see's that the Lord is good... literally!

Willa practices her walking with granjan.

Alissa in front of the camera! Our friend Alissa is always the one taking beautiful pictures of Willa. Here is a rare moment with her in front of the lense!

Now that Willa is mobile she is a great help around the house. here she is as assistant vaccumer!

We're not sure Lyle is very happy about a mobile Willa. He has, amazingly, never touched one of her toys. I am afraid Willa is not returning the favor! She often steels his bone!

Can you say overkill? I'm not sure it ever gets cold enough here for this get-up!

Family Hike

If our race the day before wasn't enough we decided to head out on a hike to Cedar Lake. It was a beautiful day and a steep climb!

Team Spork Races to Win!!

O.K., not so much to win as to avoid totally embarrassing ourselves!! So, the last weekend in September we participated in the Bellingham Traverse... a five leg race around Bellingham. Our team, Team Spork, was made up of us, our friends Tyler and Elizabeth Denton, and Kevin Goldsberry. We had a blast and believe it or not beat our goal time! Here is the play by play...
  • 1st leg: 6 mile road run: Elizabeth
  • 2nd leg: 6 mile mountain bike: Tyler
  • 3rd leg: 17 mile road bike: Kevin
  • 4th leg: 3 mile trail run: Leah
  • 5th leg: 4 mile kayak: Bret
Here are the pictures of our day...

We had Team shirts made. Team Spork... We're not forking around!

The morning of the race Willa was geared up and ready to go... she was too young to race (don't think she didn't want to) so she, Riley and Sam were our team mascots/ cheer leaders!

This was Willa and Riley's main mode of transportation from leg to leg. Here we are heading to the starting line where Elizabeth was heading out to kick some road run booty!

Waiting for the start!

Behind us is the Red Bull start gate... and finish line... much, much later!

During Elizabeth's road run we ran home to feed the girls lunch. It turned out to be more of a playtime than a lunch time!

Precious! After a bit more cuddling we headed out to Lake Padden where Elizabeth tagged off to Tyler for the Mountain Bike leg and Tyler would finish there to hand off to Kevin for the Road Biking.
Here we are waiting for Tyler to finish...

Tyler flies in to give Kevin a good start to his ride.

The Denton's having successfully finished their legs of the race head out to Fairhaven Park where Kevin will tag off to Leah for her Trail Run.

We are all loaded up to the park for Leah's leg of the race.

Leah was off and running so, Bret headed to Marine Park to wait for her tag so he could finish off the race in his kayak.

Bret is at the top if the photo getting ready to kick some tandem kayak tail!

The whole team waited for Bret at Cornwall Beach so we could run the last halfe mile, to Boundary Bay Brewery, together. Note... Tyler is missing from this picture because he ran ahead to take it!
The Family at the beer garden at Boundary Bay enjoying a much deserved Traverse ale. Note... Willa has had enough!!Team Spork!!!

The Great Outdoors

Fall has arrived and we are taking advantage of the beautiful sun filled crisp autumn days.
